Microwaves and Human Health

Up until about two months ago, there has always been a microwave wherever I've lived. When I was a child, TV dinners were the staple food for my family, leftovers have always been reheated in them, afternoon snacks of nachos were quickly "nuked" before homework or volleyball practice in high school and during college I never would have eaten on busy nights full of long papers without a microwave. But today I was reading up on microwaves at Mercola.com and found some interesting facts:
  1. Unusual molecules are found in microwave food, molecules that aren't found in food cooked by stove, fire or other conventional means.
  2. The molecules found in such food is unnatural and inevitable.
  3. In study volunteers, microwaved food caused strange changes in the blood -- Hemoglobin levels decreased and over all white cell levels and cholesterol levels increased. Lymphocytes decreased. ("Changes took place in the participants' blood that could cause deterioration in the human system.")
  4. Microwaved food was significantly less taste than food cooked by other means.
  5. Microwave oven leaks electro-magnetic radiation, harms food, and converts substances cooked in it to dangerous organ-toxic and carcinogenic products.
I know many of you are wondering, "If microwaves are so bad, then why haven't we been informed and they haven't been banned?" Well, like many things dangerous to us, industries keep these studies out of sight by sneaky means. Take the following situation documented after Swiss scientists conducted a study on the dangers of microwaves:

As soon as Doctors Hertel and Blanc published their results, the authorities reacted. A powerful trade organization, the Swiss Association of Dealers for Electro-apparatuses for Households and Industry, known as FEA, struck swiftly in 1992.

They forced the President of the Court of Seftigen, Canton of Bern, to issue a "gag order" against Drs. Hertel and Blanc. In March 1993, Dr. Hertel was convicted for "interfering with commerce" and prohibited from further publishing his results. However, Dr. Hertel stood his ground and fought this decision over the years.

Not long ago, this decision was reversed in a judgment delivered in Strasbourg, Austria, on August 25, 1998. The European Court of Human Rights held that there had been a violation of Hertel's rights in the 1993 decision.

The European Court of Human Rights also ruled that the "gag order" issued by the Swiss court in 1992 against Dr. Hertel, prohibiting him from declaring that microwave ovens are dangerous to human health, was contrary to the right to freedom of expression. In addition, Switzerland was ordered to pay Dr. Hertel compensation.

After reading this, I was thinking about my own situation. Since the end of June I have not had a microwave in my new home. All of my food, including toast and oatmeal, has been prepared via stovetop and baking (and I've also been eating more raw foods). I will admit, my energy levels have been higher than ever, my skin has been more healthy and I've even lost a significant amount of weight. After reading this article and basing off of my own experience, I vow not to own or use a microwave anymore.

I'm not asking you to do the same, but do your own experiments to see if you get the same results. Try making something on the stove top and make something else via the micrwave, and afterwards have a taste test and see which one has a better texture, better taste and which one seems more wholesome. Or go a couple of weeks without the microwave and assess your energy, inner health and skin-health levels afterwards. The results might just surprise you and open your eyes to something you've never considered.
